At this time in my career I start a canvas with no ideas in mind. I push the paint around until I see a direction, then I work that idea. The work is still fluid but starts to take shape. It's similar to free form jazz. I love working that way.

Earl Mikhail “Mike” Stahm is a contemporary painter, illustrator and stained glass artist, who grew up in Southern California and now resides in Espanola, New Mexico. He graduated with a BA from Central Washington University. He has taught stained glass design, oil and acrylic painting, pen and ink, childrens drawing and painting at Northern New Mexico Community College..
